It is true that women are targeted but that shouldn't discourage you from exploring the world outside of your comfort zone. The best thing to do is research your travel destination and its culture, social conventions, and dressing restrictions (if it's a conservative culture). Most importantly, stay alert at all times and be aware of your surroundings. If you do all these things, you shouldn't feel discouraged from living your life to the fullest.
