See The Smoke That Thunders At The Beautiful Victoria Falls

It had been a long flight in darkness from London so I was happy to see the sunrise over Africa because it meant there was only a few hours to go before we landed in Johannesburg. The year was 2001 and as the cabin crew were about to serve breakfast the Virgin Atlantic Captain spoke to us about a delay. Thanks to an early departure and a strong tailwind we were now arriving too early; basically Johannesburg wasn’t ready for us so we’d have to circle somewhere. By way of apology he explained that he had secured permission to take us on a little scenic flight in the meantime.

I don’t think many of us had done a ‘little scenic flight’ on a Boeing 747 before so we all eagerly opened our window shades as the pilots circled first one way around Lake Kariba then the other so that everyone could see, with those in the middle crowding to the closest window. He explained that they had permission to go a little lower to improve the view and apologized that we were only able to do a few circuits before moving on. Needless to say we were all very happy with this unexpected development and many years later a Southwest Airlines pilot did a similar thing when we waited to land in Las Vegas. The Captain got permission to take our 737 on a little circuit over the Grand Canyon complete with a commentary from the cockpit on how it formed....

5 Tips to Enjoy Fascinating Barcelona Like a Local

Barcelona like a local 2
Share by By Natalie Deduck

Barcelona has beautiful architecture, culture, nature and lots of tourists. So here is our 5 Tips to Enjoy Barcelona Like a Local. We will teach you how to escape from the crowded spots and get the real Catalan feeling.

This was our second time in the Catalan capital and I think we’ll never get enough of it. In our first trip we went to all the touristic attractions, neighborhoods, and parks. But this year we discovered how to enjoy Barcelona like a local.

Enjoy the beach in a Catalan Style
Doesn’t matter the weather conditions or what time it is, Barcelona‘s beaches means: Sport & Fun 24\7! Get a bicycle, rollerblades or a skate, move your body and enjoy the huge promenade that the city has.

In total there are 9 beaches along the 4,5 km of coast. All them can be reached by public transport (metro and bus), however the locals prefer to cycle, run or have a nice walk around there. If you want to have a great experience join one of the rollerblade or run groups. There are daily activities at La Barceloneta beach.

Barceloneta is the most famous beach in the city, but there are other areas worth the visit. There are even a nudist beach close to downtown!  ..keep reading ... http://bit.ly/2mdqTD9

HOW TO TRAVEL FASCINATING TAIWAN FOR FIRST TIME VISITOR

TRAVEL FRIENDLY
The latest Expat Insider 2016 index by InterNations named Taiwan as the friendliest country in the world and I am not surprised at all. Easy visa process, cheap flights, world-class infrastructure and a variety of unique experiences have made Taiwan hit among the travelers.
Taiwanese are polar opposite of Chinese – they are warm, friendly and extremely hospitable. They’ll go out of their way to help you. Unlike China, where language barrier is a huge issue, English signs are ubiquitous in Taiwan – MRTs, trains, buses, National Parks, Museums, Hotels, restaurants, markets and all kinds of places. Once when I was struggling for vegetarian food in a very small restaurant of Wulai, the restaurant who didn’t understand English pulled a school going kid to translate what I was saying. I had not expected this kind of hospitality in a Chinese region.

PARADISAICAL LANDSCAPES
Visually stunning Taiwan is photographer’s delight. Before arriving in Taiwan, I had always visualized it as a Typhoon battered country with a typical South East Asian coastline. What I completely missed was Taiwan is a mountainous island with Central Mountain being its spine. There are 286 mountain summits above 3000 m sea level height and Yushan, soaring at 3952 m, is the tallest peak in Northeast Asia. With panoramic views, deep gorges, lush tropical greenery, 9 national parks, mesmerising sunsets and sunrises; Taiwan is an ideal place for nature lovers and adventure seekers...... keep reading .... http://bit.ly/2mT7Tbn

Wanaka, New Zealand is the best place for laidback lifestyle

Share by BEN GROUNDWATER

Wanaka, all the locals have a favourite topic of conversation: how great it is to live in Wanaka.

They've become part of a cult, clearly. A friendly, laidback Kiwi cult. And they're serious about it. It's a reverse of Fight Club – because rule number one of living in Wanaka is, always talk about living in Wanaka.

Spending time with Wanaka residents is like hanging out with people who do Cross Fit, or with vegans – they have to tell you about it, otherwise it doesn't exist. Everyone loves it. And everyone has to tell you they love it.

"How good is this, eh?"

That's one of the first things someone from Wanaka will say to you as they settle in next to you at a cafe, or order a beer with you at one of the lakeside pubs. They'll figure you're not a local, but you should understand how good it is to live in Wanaka anyway.

It's the mountains, they'll tell you. It's the lake. It's the laidback, family-friendly atmosphere. It's the wine. It's the food. It's the fact that in some ways, Wanaka is just like Queenstown, which is an hour's drive away. But in other, more important ways, it's nothing like Queenstown.. ..... keep reading  .....  http://bit.ly/1Dmn3oU
