Top 10 Free Things to Do in the Mexico City

what to do on a sunday in mexico city

Share by Laura Bronner

While Mexico City isn’t exactly an expensive place to visit, fees for different tourist sites can soon mount up. While I totally believe visiting somewhere like Teotihuacan or Xochimilco is worth the money, there are plenty of free things to do in Mexico City to keep you occupied too.

1. Visit Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral
The Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral is truly a site to behold. It’s also completely free (unless you feel like lighting a candle or purchasing a post card I guess). The outside is probably my favorite part. I love standing in the main square and watching people come and go, finding some other little nook or detailed corner that I didn’t notice before.

Inside is a huge organ and several smaller chapels all devoted to different saints. There is always a service going on in one of the different areas of the church, but true to Mexican form, no one seems to mind all the other noise; all the clicking cameras and clacking heels. No one is shushing anyone or staring down noise-making visitors. It’s a very interesting place to wander around.

2. Bask in the sunshine in Chapultepec
I love this park. I love sitting by the lake in the sunshine and watching all the paddle-boaters run into each other. I love packing a picnic and sitting on the grass or taking long walks on the miles worth of paths. It’s one of the biggest parks in the Western Hemisphere. There are a few super-cheap places to rent bikes within the park as well. .....  keep reading .....  http://bit.ly/2mAuI3e

Where To Stay In Fascinating Tokyo For The First Time Visitors

Shopping Ginza Nightlife

Share by Cory / @youcouldtravel

It can be rather challenging to find where to stay in Tokyo for tourists and first-time visitors. There are several questions to ask yourself such as: Are you looking for the best accommodation in the city centre or are you happy to commute? Would you like to stay in a Japanese hotel pod? Are you visiting with your loved ones and want to find a cheap family accommodation in Tokyo? What is the best area to stay for a first time visitor?
Finding the best cheap hotel in Tokyo proved difficult the first time I visited Japan. I remember having no clue about the best neighborhoods in Tokyo for example. Where was I suppose to sleep? Which place was I meant to avoid during night time to stay safe? I had so many questions and found absolutely no answers. I spent a month travelling around Japan and in this article I'm going to tell you exactly how to find the best accommodation in Japan in 2017.

What is the best accommodation and where to stay in Tokyo

Finding the best accommodation in Tokyo depends on several things: budget, type of visit, location and of course, personal preference. But don't worry, I'm here to help and explain how I found where to stay in Tokyo, especially for the first time. ..... keep reading ......... http://bit.ly/2iUSHZF

Mount Taranaki is the New Zealand's greatest gifts

Mt Taranaki often draws comparisons to Japan's Mt Fuji.

Share by SIOBHAN DOWNES

New Zealand's most distinctive mountain is also one of the most deadly.

More than 80 climbers have lost their lives on the slopes of Mount Taranaki since records began in 1891. The picture-perfect peak is a natural born killer for the inexperienced, and the ill-prepared.

Some end up falling to their doom. Others are hoodwinked by the mountain's rapidly changing weather conditions, and freeze to death.

But just like a cold-blooded homme fatale, Taranaki is as handsome as he is dangerous. The 2518-metre-high mountain is considered one of the most symmetrical volcano cones in the world.

It often draws comparisons with Japan's national treasure, the venerated Mount Fuji - and even stood in for its Japanese counterpart in the 2003 Tom Cruise blockbuster, The Last Samurai..... keep reading ....  http://bit.ly/2m78SHR

How to Travel to the beautiful Greek Islands

Image result for greek islands
Share by Eleni N. Gage

First-timers often describe their trip to “the Greek Islands,” as if they were one monolithic entity, easily popped into and out of and in between, like boutiques in a mall. It’s only once a visitor gets to know the country that the magnitude and diversity of the archipelagos becomes clear. The truth is that there are over 200 inhabited islands in Greece—and over 6,000 isles of varying sizes all together. Of the islands with residents, each has its own character, from the whitewashed cave homes of the Cyclades to the lush, green Italianate Ionians, to the Dodecanese capped with Crusader castles.

Island Overview
For the most part, the islands are divided into six main island groups, plus a significant stand-alone, Crete. It’s easier to travel between islands within one group than to archipelago-hop, although that can be done. (For example, if you want to go between Mykonos and Santorini in the Cyclades, there are multiple ferry and hydrofoil options in high season, but to get from Santorini to Corfu, in the Ionian, you’ll need to fly or sail into Athens, then fly to Corfu.) See our handy tip sheet below to find the island(s) that sound best for your next vacation.

Getting Around Greece
By Air: Twenty-five islands have their own airports, all served from Athens by Olympic Airways and Aegean Airways, two domestic carriers that have merged. Eight are international airports that are also served by charters and European carriers such as British Airways, Air France, and EasyJet in summer. Although many of the islands have several flights a day in high season, the planes fill up quickly; aim to book four months ahead. Every single domestic flight is under an hour from Athens (keep in mind that the land mass of Greece is slightly smaller in size to the state of Alabama)...... keep reading .... http://tandl.me/2j5GP6W
