Among Bangkok’s numerous night markets, relative newcomer Talat Rot Fai – frequently referred to in English as the train market (but with no connection to the railway market in Mae Klong) – is currently among the most popular, and seems to have an enduring appeal. It’s been on something of a journey since it first appeared on Bangkokians’ radar a few years back, and it now operates in a number of locations.
Talat Rot Fai began its life back in 2011 in the north of Bangkok, between the Saphan Khwai and Mo Chit BTS Skytrain stations and not far from the famous Chatuchak weekend market. Specialising in both new and second-hand retro and vintage goods, but also packing in a great selection of food and drink, the market was an informal affair and had a real rough-around-the-edges feel to it. In the early days, even getting in meant climbing through a hole in the perimeter fence! ....... keep reading  ......  http://bit.ly/2jpqxb4

AMRITSAR GOLDEN TEMPLE IS THE POPULAR TEMPLE IN INDIA

"Entrance to The Golden Temple'

Share by http://www.onceinalifetimejourney.com/

To the uneducated mind, Amritsar’s Golden Temple is simply a bright structure in the middle of a square pool surrounded by marble buildings. To the Sikh, The Golden Temple is their holiest shrine.
The origin of Amritsar
The name Amritsar was given to an ancient lake that used to exist where the pool is today and it refers to the city that surrounds the lake and the temple. But there is more to it than just a word. Amritsar, meaning “pool of ambrosial nectar”, comes from the Sanskrit for “immortal” or Amrit and is “a syrup considered by Sikhs to be divine”. The word shared the same meaning with the Greek for “Ambroto” and is interpreted by the Sikh as the magical substance that facilitates enlightenment.
The ancient lake, located in the middle of a forest at the time, was a place where even Buddha spent time in contemplation some 2,000 years ago. But it was not until the 15th century when the founder of the Sikh religion, Guru Nanak, came to spend time in meditation here. After he died, his disciples continued to come to the lake, thus turning it into Sikhism’s most sacred site.

See the beautiful Sri Lanka’s Southern Beaches

Stilt Fisherman, near Weligama, Sri Lanka
Share by Brian Barry

Sri Lanka’s southern coast is lined with beautiful, tropical paradise beaches, some unspoiled and some more spoilt. Each of Sri Lanka’s southern beaches caters to a different crowd, type of traveller and/or budget but all do check the box of clean sands, turquoise blue waters and are lined by tall palm trees which gently sway in the afternoon breeze. With regular buses flying up and down the main road which runs along the south coast, getting from beach to beach doesn’t take very long and so beach hopping along Sri Lanka’s south coast is a great way to see a variety of beaches in a short space of time. Here we have created a short guide to Sri Lanka’s Southern Beaches.

Sri Lanka’s Southern Beaches: Hikkaduwa

Starting from the south west the first beach you encounter is Hikkaduwa, the most built up and developed of Sri Lanka’s beaches. If it’s a typical ‘fun in the sun’ type atmosphere you are looking for, lazing on the beach all day and out in the bars late at night, with a good choice of (mediocre) restaurants then this is the spot! Hikkaduwa in our opinion has lost it’s charm and has become over run with package holiday tourists, tuk-tuk drivers trying to get your attention and shops selling overpriced tourist tat ... keep reading ...http://bit.ly/2jTu4wt

KERALA IS THE PERFECT INTRODUCTION TO TRAVELING IN INDIA

Houseboats on the Kerala Backwaters

Share by  Anna

Tropical, Beautiful Kerala
The luscious, emerald green state of Kerala forms a tropical, blissed out strip along the Western Coastline of the far South of India. Whilst all the colour and exoticness of India is found here, in many ways the state of Kerala, also known as 'God's own Country,' differs to the rest of India and traveling in Kerala is a cleaner, less hassled, and laid back affair. Nature has blessed 'Gods own Country' from head to toe and Kerala boasts so many amazing experiences from tropical beaches, spice plantations, languid backwaters, stunning nature and wildlife sanctuaries, cool hill stations and historic, multicultural, unhurried towns. Add scrumptious seafood and cuisine, an abundance in natural therapies like yoga and ayurveda and some of the friendliest people and warmest hospitality I've ever encountered..... keep reading ....    http://stfi.re/wdnlgnd

Aruba is the most revisited island in the Caribbean

Image result for aruba beaches
Share by cooladventures

According to the Aruba tourism authority, Aruba is the most re-visited destination in the Caribbean, with more than half of all visitors returning for another visit.

Strike up a conversation with most anyone along Palm or Eagle Beach and most will tell you how many times they have returned to the island – some of them visiting annually for decades. So, what brings them (and us) coming back?

Aruba has beautiful beaches, lots of things to do, casinos and great food, but, in all honesty, so do many islands. What’s the draw?

Aruba has some of the friendliest people you’ll meet. 108,000 people from over 90 nationalities call Aruba home and they always seem to have smiles on their faces and are ready to assist if possible. The island has had the motto “One Happy Island” as far as I can remember, and, while I am generally not a fan of slogans, it is a spot-on description of the culture. ....... keep reading .....  http://stfi.re/eorgejz

The 4 unique ways explorers enjoying China's ancient capital

(BPT) - If you enjoy exploring new and unique cultures when you travel, you're far from alone. In a 2016 Trip Advisor study, 47 percent of travelers worldwide chose foreign destinations to visit in hopes of being exposed to other cultures and people.
Learning the history of ancient cultures can be the most fascinating part of such trips, especially for visitors who measure the age of their own nation in hundreds, not thousands. That's partly why the 1,800-year-old city of Nanjing, China is such an attractive destination for curious tourists from across the world.
The city of 8 million offers access to a wide range of awe-inspiring ancient sites along with multiple opportunities to experience the people, places and culture that make up the Jiangsu province present day. Visitors also enjoy the ease of transportation: An international airport and two train stations connect Nanjing to China's major cities including Shanghai and Beijing, 90 minutes and 3.5 hours by bullet train, respectively.
Those wishing to immerse themselves in Nanjing's ancient beauty and culture can enjoy the following attractions:
Historic sites: Among the most historically and architecturally significant are two mausoleums enshrining former Chinese leaders: the Ming Dynasty-era Xiaoling Tomb and Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, honoring the founder of modern China. Also compelling is the Presidential Palace, built in Neoclassical style in 1864 and transformed into the China Modern History Museum in 1980. Visitors are often inspired by the 600-year-old City Wall of Nanjing, built by 200,000 laborers over a 21-year period to ward off invaders. The structure encloses 55 square kilometers and is among the largest walls ever constructed in Chinese history.

Cultural landmarks: A must-see for many tourists is the Confucius Temple Scenic Area. Tour the temple, visit former homes of historic figures then board the Qinhuai river sightseeing cruise while you learn about Nanjing's history and take in performances along the river's banks. Visit the opulent subterranean Buddhist palace and two different temples at the 197-acre Niushoushan Cultural Park, an ode to Buddhist beliefs built on a sacred site just outside the city. Don't miss the Grand Bao'en Temple, a reproduction of a Ming Dynasty pagoda considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Medieval Age.
Natural attractions: A popular choice is Xuanwu Lake Park, which features five islands interconnected by arched bridges and miles of enjoyable walkways. Within the park are temples, pagodas, pavilions, gardens, teahouses, restaurants, entertainment venues, a small zoo and other attractions. Elsewhere, choose to walk Qixia Mountain, known for its beautiful foliage in the autumn months, crystal clear springs and multiple scenic spots, or relax at Tangshan Hot Springs, open to both day trippers and local resort guests.
Festivals: Mingle with thousands of locals and tourists alike while celebrating the city's culturally rich traditions. Nanjing will kick off 2017 with New Year's Eve Bell Ringing Ceremonies throughout the city. Other festivities include the Qinhuai International Lantern Festival (early January), the International Plum Blossom Festival (mid-February through March); the Rain Flower Stone Festival (September) and the Gaochun County Hairy Crab Festival (September through November). While sampling vendors' offerings at such events, be sure to partake of Nanjing's culinary specialty - duck, deliciously served up in myriad soups, appetizers, main courses, pastries, snacks and dim sum. The city's claim to fame: The tender, fragrant and often crispy salted duck first popularized during the Qing Dynasty.

5 vacation destinations at Wintery Wisconsin that can help you relax

(BPT) - It may sound contrary to the holiday hype, but the winter season following the holidays can be a perfect time for a relaxing, soul-soothing getaway.
Research cited by the American Psychological Association shows stress increases for many in the weeks leading up to the holidays, due to factors like lack of time, commercialism, family issues and the pressures of additional shopping, cooking, cleaning and decorating.
All are good reasons to choose a post-holiday vacation that allows you to get away and completely relax. Studies show people able to completely relax during their vacations remain happy for longer after returning to their regular lives, while other research indicates regular vacations from the routines of daily life can help prevent health issues, including coronary disease.
One area of the U.S. offering a wealth of relaxing vacation options is the Badger State - Wisconsin. Each winter, a multitude of leisure seekers travel to the Midwestern gem to enjoy its rustic beauty and recreational opportunities for all ages. Some examples of local amenities include:
Destination Kohler: The only Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond resort hotel in the Midwest, this stunning resort offers the best of both worlds - luxury accommodations and a private, rustic setting. Guests from all over are drawn by the chance to traverse these snowy woodlands with accompaniment from a trained hunting dog and experienced guide knowledgeable about the area. Afterward, your group can enjoy lunch at a local restaurant lodged in a rustic cabin.
Yoga on the lake: This holistic yoga studio offers some 30 weekly classes in a comfortable space made picturesque by floor-to-ceiling bay windows overlooking adjacent Wood Lake. Nationally certified instructors gently guide guests of all levels through a mind-body connection in this peaceful atmosphere, helping them reduce stress, improve sleep patterns and relaxation and induce health benefits.
Kohler Waters Spa: This oasis of calm specializes in hydrotherapy treatments such as the Balancing Moroccan Ritual, a body scrub followed by a Chakra stone application, a traditional Shirodhara hair wash and treatment, a cool stone facial massage, a warm Kohler Custom Vichy shower and a body soufflé finish.
