How to discover the beautiful Macedonia travel

By  Margo Pfeiff
Macedonia, a landlocked Balkan country squeezed between Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Albania and Kosovo,  is one of Europe’s best surprises.
Part of the former Yugoslavia until its independence in 1991, it is an exotic melting pot of civilizations at the crossroads of East and West.
Wildly mountainous with spectacular rivers, peaks and national parks, it is also rich with the cultural mementos of a long, turbulent history of invasions and occupations by Persians, Romans and Ottoman Turks.
Roughly the size of Vermont, Macedonia (pronounced locally “Mack-edonia”) today has a parliamentary democracy and is a safe, friendly and inexpensive country in which to travel. Best of all, with tourism in its infancy, it is still charmingly unpretentious and warmly welcoming.... .... >> http://linkis.com/LP0nW

Revealing Singapore travel for the best street food

By Soo Kim, travel writer
Two modest food stalls in Singapore made history last week by becoming the first street vendors to be recognised by the prestigious Michelin Guide.
Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle and Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle were among 29 dining venues to feature in the new Singapore guide.
With its 100-plus open-air “hawker” centres and 6,000 stalls selling traditional food, Singapore is the first south-east Asian country in the world, and the fourth in Asia, to be rated by the Michelin Guide.
The best restaurants in Singapore
Chan Hon Meng, owner of Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, said he was “very excited” by the international accolade and hopes its will encourage youth to enter the street food business, which he believes is suffering from a lack of successors and run primarily by elderly chefs. >>

Barcelona travel is the world greatest city for nightlife

By
Barcelona doesn’t have the searing heat of Madrid, but there is a certain stickiness in the Catalan capital in the warmer months, and narrow medieval streets that grant much-needed shade during the day feel somewhat muggy at night. The best place to spend your evenings is close to a sea breeze or up on a hill. Where no hills are available, a rooftop will do, and thankfully the city is increasingly finding uses for these previously unloved terraces, with their panoramic views and cooler air. Hotels, particularly, have realised the potential of their roofs, laying on live music and cocktails, and they are almost always open to the public...... >>  http://stfi.re/oorlldk

INTRODUCING 9 BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES IN NEW MEXICO

BY JACQUELINE KEHOE
NEW MEXICO is one of those states where it’s easy to assume you know what you’re in for: red rocks and scrub brush, old highways stretching across vast desert…and then you arrive. Snowy peaks and evergreen forests paint a brand new picture of this state; raging river gorges, ancient volcanic calderas, and brilliant white sand dunes prove it’s as diverse as it is wild. These aren’t just gorgeous landscapes, these are views unlike anywhere else.

1. The Rio Chama and Abiquiu / Ghost Ranch

A drive 50 miles north of Santa Fe puts you in the village of Abiquiu, and there you’ll find Ghost Ranch, a 21,000-acre retreat and education center surrounded by views like this on all sides. You can hike, backpack, and watch the wildlife here year-round, but the best way to get deep into this territory is to experience it from the water.
The Rio Chama, a tributary of the Rio Grande, has cut a canyon through northern New Mexico whose sandstone walls reach 1,500 feet in places. You can put in south of El Vado Reservoir and float the Chama to Abiquiu Reservoir (pictured above). It’s $5 per person for the 31-mile run (with class II-III rapids), and there’s a lottery to assign launch dates — keep your schedule flexible to incorporate this epic New Mexican odyssey. ........>> http://ln.is/UJf8M

Revealing The paradise Caribbean Island You’ve Never Heard Of

By
SMITHSONIAN.COM
This tropical paradise is packed with lush landscapes and secret pleasures. Maybe you’ve never heard of Saba before. But you've likely seen it: This tiny Caribbean island's silhouette was used in the original King Kong movie in 1933. At the beginning of the film, it serves as the backdrop for the colossal gorilla's "Skull Island" home.
Aside from that brush with fame, renown has mostly eluded this obscure, five-square-mile island dubbed “rock” in Arawak Indian. Christopher Columbus supposedly sighted it in 1493—and in fact, the craggy shores that made Saba perfect for King Kong are what deterred the explorer from alighting.
After its discovery, the island changed hands between multiple colonial forces. Eventually it was claimed by the Dutch, who have held it for the last 345 years. >> http://ln.is/8Roiw

Where actually is the world's best climbing rocks in China?

By Katie Hunt
Getu, China (CNN)With bare hands, no safety ropes and loosely laced canvas sneakers on his feet, Huang Xiaobao clambers up the sheer rock face with surprising ease.
Below him churn the silted waters of China's Getu River, swollen with the previous day's heavy rain.
Above him in the gloom of the cave is a scarlet Chinese flag, which he unfurls and waves to a small crowd standing on a floating walkway almost 300-feet (100 meters) beneath.
It's a show for tourists, whose gasps suggest they are suitably awed, but Huang's climbing skills were honed long ago for a completely different purpose.
He knows the giant cavern intimately.
As a 12-year-old living in this remote and beautiful part of China he began climbing in search of swallow droppings to fertilize the terraced fields.  ...... >>  http://ln.is/k1wH1

You need to know top 15 things about living in New Zealand

From MEGAN CONWAY
These are all the things I've learned after living in New Zealand for two years.
When I first stepped off that plane in Auckland I had no idea what lay ahead of me. But, before I knew it, Kiwi slang made its way into my everyday sentences and the things I thought were rather strange, become the norm.
Before long this country which is so far away from my own, felt like home.
People go barefoot. Everywhere. And I mean everywhere. From the supermarket to restaurants and bars. During the summer months, shoes are just simply not a requirement.
The coffee is the best. Ever.
Oh man. The coffee. It is just so good. New Zealand invented the flat white and with such an amazing brunch scene, the Kiwis have perfected the art of coffee making. >>>
